I am new to forex trading and i am currently choosing a broker now. How to know if the broker is genuine?

So like i have stated above that i am currently new to forex and i am finding a broker which is safe. So i have stumbled upon several brokers which is good for micro accounts and apparently they all have negative reviews on how it is a scam. However there is this one broker platform which is XM and it does look quite reliable except with the similar problems on how they have negative reviews. Since people would easily state how anything is a scam i would like to know if there is a way to know how genuine it is.

Non Strategies for Success

TL;DR The why as to why you trade is as important as the strategy you use to trade.
I am new to Forex. However prior to COVID I was a professional card player but when the casinos closed shop I needed to find another source of income. Over the past few months I have been doing a lot of research into different strategies to use however, the one area of information that is rarely ever discussed is the why of why you are doing this. In any setting risk management is a major component to determine success but, what determines your level of risk tolerance is independent of each person's goals. Before I ever sent a dime to a brokerage or opened a demo account I asked myself these questions.
1.) What is my reason to do this? Determining whether this was something I wanted to do full time, part time, as passive income or as a challenge to beat.
2.) What is my short term and long term goal with this? Was I looking to make money right away? Was I looking to reinvest? Have a plan as to what you are going to do with your money beforehand and stick to it.
3.) How much time am I willing to invest into this? Practice makes perfect in any endeavor and to become good at something requires time.
4.) How much am I willing to lose before I call it quits? Just because you have 20k doesn't mean you have 20k to lose. Knowing when to walk away from a losing session is even more important than basic strategy as it will allow you to come back to the table to try again so to speak.
Each of these questions lead to more questions until I had a defined plan of action as to how I wanted to move forward. These questions also gave insight as to the style and type of trading strategies I would be looking for as they fit my goals. The strategy I have been using is successful for me because of my style of risk tolerance and risk management but may not work for others. Ken Jennings and James Holzhauer are two of the most successful competitors on Jeopardy. However the strategy each used were different but worked for them. Same applies to professional poker players, athletes and almost any task imaginable. So I see many people asking for strategy advice. The advice I would give is for them to ask themselves not "How should I be trading?" but "Why am I trading?". This is just my two cents. Good luck to you all.

Is it OK to use an unregulated broker?

I am new to forex, but I've been trading crypto a bit. I was using Binance for crypto trading, but right now I want to migrate into euusd.
i don't want to use a regulated company because I reside in a location where the laws suck and they are changing a lot all the time. I am from Russia. So, I am OK with working with an unregulated broker, but I am just not sure about the risks.
What are the risks? And how do you approach this?

What’s the benefit of using Forex tester 4 over back testing in Tradeview?

Hello,
I am new to Forex, and I am using a demo account. I’m using TradingView for my charting platform. I am interested in back testing but I’m curious if a tool like Forex tester 4 is better for back testing over manually back testing in TradingView?

Starting again :-(

I am new to forex and am having a rough time with inconsistent results. I traded on a demo account for a while and did really well, so I switched to a live account. I’m not really sure what happened but I have lost 70% of my account thro bad luck, poor risk management and some silly errors. I never expected to be buying a Lamborghini, this isn’t about getting rich for me - I just enjoy learning about it and am far more interested in my %win rate than the dollars (although that would be nice one day). That being said, now that I have lost real money I am feeling desperate to turn this around and making emotional trades.
I know what mistakes I have been making - I even have checklists next to my screen to stop me making them. I still accidentally placed a trade today against the underlying trend (against my rule) without even realizing. I’m really frustrated and upset. I don’t understand why I changed so drastically when I went live.
I’m considering going back to paper trading for a few months, but starting with all new accounts. I keep seeing the losses and chasing trades, so maybe starting again will help? Any other ideas to reset? I think I will stick to one pair - what pair is the best to trade? Is it best to stick to a pair that has the currency from your country in it? Do you only trade one frame frame? I was trading off the hourly.
Con someone reassure me that this is even possible to do consistently because everyone I know is so negative about day trading even tho them know nothing about it.

Forex seems to be very divisive

I have spent about a month on this forum. I noticed that some people have the reaction that the whole forex market is a scam and others make it out to be the greatest thing ever.
Why is it like that? Is cause so many people lose out that they want to warn other people about it? I am new to forex (less than a year) and have yet have had a bad experience. It is clearly a long term game, I keep my profits above my losses.

Why is there a difference in prices between order and graph?

Why is there a difference in prices between order and graph?
Hi all,
In the picture below, the chart shows a price of 124.035; however, the order price shows 124.048 and 124.055. I understand the difference between the two order prices, but why is it not around the price on the graph but almost 15+ pips away.
I am new to Forex trading and would like to understand every small detail before I even start trading for real.

My first trading strategy

Hello fellow traders -I am new to Forex and for my first strategy I'm thinking of using Sweep and Reclaim where I look at the graph in a 1 hour or 2 hour time from set a high and low and when that breaches start investing or selling. Is this a good strat to start with?

Suggest any free forex back tester or forex simulator.

I am new to Forex. I am reading a lot. Practicing on demo account. I want to back test my strategy but i can't find anything good.
I have come across few simulators online but they are trail variants and their scale is limited as well.
They download small amount of history data. For longer variant they are asking for payment. They are whoopingpy expensive . I have yet to make anything on Forex. Let alone pay them 200-300 dollars for their full subscription .
Or please suggest a free way to do it. Is it possible on meta trader to practice on history data?
I think problem with meta trader is that you see the future easily. It doesn't hide it for the sake of practice.

Also, if anyone has some materials for Forex trading, could you share them with me? I would be very much appreciated

University Student asking for comments on his strategy.

Hello, I am a first-year university student (BSc Finance and Banking), I have recently opened a Revolut account and I have noticed that even with the standard plan I can exchange currencies without fees at real current exchange prices. Since I am an Italian guy studying in the UK I frequently have to change money from EUR to GBP, however, I have noticed that the daily range for EUR to GDP seems to vary by about ±0,02, this would allow me to nearly daily trade. Here is my thought, if I buy EUR when they are at the daily low and I sell them at the daily high I would make a profit of ±20£ a day only trading 1000£ for the first trade .Even if the EUR does not increase in value after I buy them, I would still hold the as I need anyway when I go back to Italy, of course, I have more than 1000£ so I wouldn't need to exchange EUR for GBP at bad rates just to afford daily expenses, this would give me time to wait for the value of EUR to rise again.
I am probably talking about obvious stuff for you but, I am new to Forex and I would like to understand more of it. It would be very helpful if you could comment on what I plan on doing.
Thanks and I am sorry if the explenation is not very clear.

Reliable sources/mentors for forex begginers

Hello guys, I am new to forex, have been reading and watching lots of forex begginer videos and articles and courses and so, such as babypips and lots of youtube tutorials, live trading etc. I feel like I still wont be able to educate myself all alone, I need lerning plan, I need a mentor and/or at least reliable course. I also want to make sure I do not waste my money on people who claim to know trading and their main income source are 'pro' courses or so. So I would be really grateful if you could give testimonies, recommend reliable mentors and courses, or at least suggest learning plan, what should I learn and in what order should I place it. Thanks!

I am new to Forex, and I apologize for asking this basic question. When I am putting in trade I am only specifying volume by calculating Risk$/(10*SLPip) .... I have $50k demo account, nowhere I am putting how many lots I am taking out from this $50k to make the trade. I am specifying SL price and Take profit. Can someone help me visualize how much base currency I am tying up from this $50k?

A good volume indicator for trading forex?

I am new to Forex and am currently developing my forex trading system. Basically the system comprises of an entry indicator, trend indicator, volume indicator and exit indicator in addition to extensive risk management rules.
The difficulty I am having with is the volume indicator. The system is currently 60% profitable; however after backtesting I see that the losses are primarily stemming when the market is stagnant and there is not much volatility.
I have tried out volatility and volume indicators such as
MFI CMF On Balance Volume
with strategies such as zero line cross or crossover a threshold but haven't had much success.
Anybody else run into the problem? Have you found a suitable volume indicator to prevent entering in trades when the markets are tight? Any thoughts on this are very much appreciated.
